A recent announcement from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has established a major change to the lifestyle of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
All those who fully received the COVID-19 vaccine are now capable of traveling both in and outdoors WITHOUT the need of face masks.
President Biden is glad to see this milestone become a reality, as all this was possible with so many Americans having been treated with the vaccine.
According to NBC News, the data on COVID-19 says that cases have plummeted down to give us the chance of traveling maskless. The CDC has confirmed that over 35% of the United States have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr, Rochelle Walensky, the CDC Director, states “we have all longed for this moment when we get back to some sense of normalcy. Based on the continuing downward trajectory of cases, the scientific data on the performance of our vaccines and our understanding of how the virus spreads, that moment has come for those who are fully vaccinated.”
Dr. Amesh Adalja, the Infectious Disease Physician at John Hopkins Center for Health Security, also said that “our goal was to tame this virus, to defang and to remove its ability to threaten hospitals. I think we’ve accomplished that in the United States.”
CNN News reported that President Biden expects Americans to be maskless on the honor system, in which everyone who removes their mask is expected to be vaccinated.
It’s also been theorized that if fully vaccinated people went outside maskless, the result would be a lesser risk of spreading the coronavirus. This shows how the new rule can still be capable of protecting those not given full vaccinations.
As stated by ABC News, states are given the choice to establish their own guidelines with half of them still following the mask requirement, as there are people that haven’t vaccinated due to certain medical reasons, or because of them having an impaired immune system.
William Schaffner says that this is a topic that the CDC has attempted to avoid, but also claiming that vaccinated people should be confident when inside or even in public areas. He states “there are more and more people who’ve said, you know I’ve been vaccinated, these vaccines are supposed to be so darn effective, why can’t I go back to a near normal life?”
Everything has changed with the new guideline from the CDC, and it shows how far mankind has come in times like this, but there are still people out there who received the vaccine yet can’t live anywhere close to how it once was for us.
The pandemic is now becoming a thing of the past, and we all must continue to recreate the normal day-to-day lives that were taken away from us.
