A Homecoming “Dream”

The CMHS California Dreamin’ Homecoming took place on October 18th from 7 to 10pm. It featured many things, such as an amazing DJ, a fry bar, TK burgers, an ice cream truck, and a photo booth. The California Dreamin’ theme was inspired by the song “California Dreamin” by The Mamas & the Papas. The CMHS king, Thuc Nguyen, was crowned at the dance alongside the CMHS queen Scarlett Villarreal, who was crowned at the HOCO football game on October 17th.

The Hitching Post interviewed Morgan Gumm, who is a freshman that attended the dance. We asked her what her favorite part of the dance was, and she said, “My favorite part of the dance was being in the center of the mosh pit with friends. I will remember having fun with my friends and enjoying the songs in the mosh.” We also asked her what she thought about the homecoming theme, and she said, “At first I thought the theme was not the best, but after going I realized that I liked it.”

ASB begins planning the homecoming dance in July before school starts, and the juniors always pick the theme. They chose the California Dreamin’ theme because they thought it was a new and unique theme. The Hitching Post also got the chance to interview Chloe Wool Smith, who is a junior in ASB that helped plan the dance. She said, “We spend around $20,000 for the homecoming.” We asked her what her experience was like planning the homecoming, and she said, “Planning the homecoming dance was very fun. We got to think of many ideas and be involved.”

The Hitching Post hopes everyone had a fun and eventful Homecoming dress up week, rally, football game, and dance.
