Top 5 Snacks for NFL Gameday

With the big game just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start preparing delicious appetizers for your loved ones. The Pioneer Woman offers over eighty different recipes to serve! Here are our top five snacks for NFL Gameday and their recipes! 

 

Coming in at number one on our list is air fried chicken wings. With the simple airfrying method, your chicken wings will be ready in no time! You can pair your wings with dips such as our favorite, buffalo chicken dip.

 

Air Fried chicken wings Ingredients:

 

  • 2 lb. chicken wings, drumettes and flats only
  • 1 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt, such as Lawry's
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Buffalo sauce, sweet BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, and/or blue cheese dressing, for serving (if desired)
  • Buffalo Chicken Dip Ingredients:
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c. buffalo sauce
  • 1/3 c. ranch dressing
  • 1/3 c. blue cheese crumbles
  • 2 c. chopped, cooked chicken
  • 2 c. sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced, divided
  • Veggie sticks and chips, for dipping

Jalapeno Poppers is number two on our list. It's a little more complex but it will be worth it once it smacks your taste buds with these extravagant flavors. While there's a recipe with all the ingredients you can always add your own toppings to suit your taste buds!

 

Jalapeno Poppers Ingredients:

 

  • 12 fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 2 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1/4 c. diced pimento peppers, drained
  • 1/4 c. minced white or yellow onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt, divided
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika, divided
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper, divided
  • 1/2 c. panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp. olive oil
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • Chopped fresh chives, for garnish

 

Pigs in a blanket is a classic appetizer so it helps that it's easy to make! Some people can find that pigs in a blanket might be a bit bland for them so feel free to kick up the flavor with your personal favorite sauces or dips!

 

Pigs in a Blanket Ingredients:

 

  • 1 8-ounce can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 14-ounce package cocktail-sized smoked sausages, patted dry
  • 1 large egg 
  • everything bagel seasoning (optional)

FOR THE SPICY MAYO DIPPING SAUCE:

  • 3/4 c. mayonnaise
  • 1/4 c. chile-garlic sauce or Sriracha

FOR THE MAPLE-DIJON DIPPING SAUCE:

  • 3/4 c. Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 c. genuine maple syrup 

FOR THE QUICK RANCH:

  • 3/4 c. sour cream
  • 1/4 c. pickle juice (from jar)
  • 1 tbsp. fresh chives, chopped

Next up is carmelized onion dip. Caramelized onion dip is always a staple when it’s gameday. It’s packed with intense flavors. This dip does require a bit of patience with caramelizing the onion but it's worth the wait!

 

Carmelized Onion Dip Ingredients:

 

  • 2 tbsp. butter 
  • 2 lb. yellow onion, sliced very thin
  • 1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar 
  • 8 oz. block cream cheese 
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt 
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • Potato chips and crackers, for serving

Lastly on our list is, chips and guacamole. Chips and guacamole is pretty much self explanatory unless you want to get creative and make your own fresh guacamole. Also if you like chunky guacamole, you can cut your veggies into bigger parts, and if you like more smooth guacamole cut your veggies into more fine parts.

 

Chips and guacamole Ingredients: 

 

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely chopped (remove seeds for less heat)
  • 1 plum tomato, finely chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1/2 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 c. fresh cilantro, torn
  • Tortilla chips, for serving
