The Great California Shakeout

Have you ever wondered why we practice the Great California Shakeout?

The Great Shakeout is a yearly earthquake drill in California and about 8.4 million people participate in the drill. This includes: schools, businesses and federal government buildings.

The Great Shakeout was initially designed for Southern California in 2008 in preparation for the San Andreas fault.

In case an earthquake ever happens at school, teachers and administrators have been prepared to take their red emergency backpack kit and walk their classes to the field to meet with others.

This year the Great California Shakeout will be on October 20, 2022 and happen during the 3rd period.
