Look up at the stars on February 1st to see a green colored comet named C/2022 E3 (ZTF), discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility last March. C/2022 E3 was last visible during the Stone Age, 50,000 years ago.
The comet is already visible with binoculars or a telescope but it will be at its brightest on February 1st.
C/2022 E3 was its closest to the Sun on January 12th but will be the closest to Earth on February 2nd.
If able to, make plans to go to an area with little light pollution. The closests areas to Costa Mesa are the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Joshua Tree National Park. But you can also follow the comet on YouTube!
