Who is Lindsey Clancy?
On January 24, 2023, Lindsay Clancy killed her three kids by strangling them. The kids’ names were Cora Clancy, 5 years old; Dawson Clancy, 3 years old; and Callan Clancy, 8 months old. Lindsay Clancy suffered from a psychiatric emergency called postpartum psychosis, which can be common in women after childbirth. They feel many things like sadness, overwhelming emptiness, and severe mood swings. After killing her three kids, she tried to commit suicide and jump out of her window but ended up surviving and being paralyzed from her waist down. Lindsay’s ex-husband Patrick Clancy divorced Lindsay after she killed their three children. He was told to go grocery shopping by Clancy so she could be home alone to do the killing.
What Happened:
Lindsay was prosecuted for three counts of murder in a criminal trial that began on July 20, 2026. Although she did not dispute killing her children, her defense argued that she had been suffering from postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder and therefore lacked criminal responsibility. They emphasized that she reported hearing the commanding voice only on the day of the killings and that none of her clinicians had documented observing psychosis. The jury was divided. After seven days of deliberation it was declared a mistrial. 11 of the jurors wanted to find her not guilty, while one of the jurors believed she was guilty. The judge ruled and Judge William Sullivan discharged the jury. Lindsay Clancy’s lead defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, wants to prevent Lindsay from facing another jury.

This trial has had a lot of controversy, and Lindsay Clancy has gained massive support. Her supporters have raised over 1.1 million dollars after the mistrial. She has also gotten a lot of support on social media and hundreds of thousands of videos made supporting Lindsay Clancy. Despite killing 3 of her own children, people are supporting the movement, and her fanbase is just getting larger. She has also received “get well” letters in the mail. She got enough letters from around the globe that she could fill up three banker boxes full of letters. On the other hand, people are saying that even though she was mentally ill, it doesn’t justify killing her own kids or anyone in general. Overall, this case has caused massive controversy, and it will have become a worldwide event. Adding on, over hundreds of women line up at the court wearing pink shirts with kind messages on them. There are even women holding up their kids while at court and posting online videos of holding their kids in the air supporting Lindsay Clancy.
