The Downfall of Kanye West

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has widely been regarded as one of the most influential music artists of all time. His 2008 album, 808s and Heartbreak, inspired the next generation of rap music in the following years, including artists such as Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott.

On March 2, 2022, Kanye’s former wife, Kim Kardashian, divorced him seemingly out of the blue. Many people believe this to be the start of the downfall of Ye as his reputation would only tarnish.

Kim would later start a relationship with comedian, Pete Davidson, or as Kanye nicknamed him, “Skete”. Ye proceeded to go on several rants about Davidson on social media saying he was ruining his family and even went as far as to make a fake newspaper pronouncing Davidson dead at age 28.

During the series of posts, Ye’s long time business partners at Adidas would terminate their connections with Ye in an effort to protect their image. Following this came a long line of instagram posts from Ye.

In October, Ye went on a plethora of politically controversial stunts by doing things such as wearing a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt and posting a tweet saying that he was “..going death con 3 on jewish people..”

This, accompanied by several other controversial acts, provoked a discussion about him and his actions which sparked a trend of people recording themselves taking down Kanye posters, vinyl records, and more Ye-related paraphernalia leaving millions of fans disappointed and no longer supporters of the now infamous Kanye West.
