On October 1, Governor Newsom announced that as soon as the FDA fully approves COVID-19 vaccines for students in grades 7-12, it will be added as a required vaccine for students to receive in person instruction in schools.
Teachers and school staff members in California must provide proof of vaccination or undergo weekly COVID tests.
Currently, the required vaccines for students ranging from K-12 are, DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis), OPV/IPV (Polio), Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella), and Varicella (Chickenpox).
