Evil Dead’s Return

The month of April is a huge month for the Evil Dead franchise. The newest installment, Evil Dead Rise, directed by Lee Cronin, releases in theaters this Friday. And Evil Dead: The Game gets its biggest update yet the following week, accompanied by a much needed release to Steam and the game becoming free on Xbox.

Evil Dead Rise

Rise is Evil Dead’s return to the big screen, the last time was a decade ago with Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead (2013). The story of this film follows a Mother, Ellie (played by Alyssa Sutherland) and her three kids in an LA apartment when she gets a visit by her sister Beth (played by Lily Sulivan). As they catch up, Ellie’s son, Danny, stumbles upon the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, also known as: the Book Of The Dead.

Upon listening to a tape recorder located next to the book, an ancient passage is said aloud which gives way to the Kandarian Demon to be let loose terrorizing the family. The movie then follows Beth as she tries to survive this demonic nightmare.

The film has received extremely good reviews, even receiving a 96% percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was originally going to be put on HBO Max instead of in theaters, but after a test screening they realized people loved the film and because of that, the movie was delayed and set to be released in theaters. Multiple private screenings were hosted and each and every person who saw the film said they loved it and found it to be aggressively scary.

Evil Dead: The Game

Evil Dead: The Game is a 4 v 1 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where a team of four players unite and pick their favorite characters from the franchise to battle another player who controls the vile Kandarian Demon.

The game was developed by Saber Interactive and published by Boss Team Games and is available on all platforms excluding Nintendo Switch. The game’s biggest update yet comes out the week after Evil Dead Rise’s release, making the next two weeks a very groovy time for Evil Dead Fans.

Accompanying the update is the much needed release to steam which will draw in a lot of new players. The game will also become free on Xbox, though it is not confirmed if it will be part of Xbox’s Game Pass system or just a free claim.

The update itself will include two new characters, character outfits, and new weapons.

The characters are Brock Williams, the father of Ash himself, and the demon mastermind Baal. Both have made they’re appearances in Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead.

April has been a great month for Evil Dead Fans as Sam Raimi, the director of the original films, and Bruce Campbell, the star of the franchise, have both said they are interested in making another film. This film may include Campbell’s character, Ash Williams. That alone has made fans extremely excited for what the future holds for this classic horror franchise
