Dual Enrollment: How and Why

Have you heard of Dual Enrollment, also known as Dual Credit? If you haven’t, this might be for you.

Dual Enrollment is when you can take college classes, for free! It is an excellent way to expand your education and  your college application resume. Not only that, but you can get both highschool and college credits.

This is a perfect opportunity, considering our school is right across the street from OCC, our local community college in Costa Mesa, making it easy to access. But, how do you do it? To be frank, it's quite easy.

First, you need to decide what classes you want to take, and when you want to take them. A good reference is the OCC course catalog.

Keep in mind that you must complete the prerequisites for the class. You should also note that during the Spring and Fall semesters, you can take up to 11 units, and during the Summer and Intersession semesters, 9.

Now, once you have picked the classes you want to take, you must fill out the dual enrollment form.

In the principal's recommendation section, fill out the courses you want to take and how many units, then have it signed by your counselor or principal. Once signed, you can email it to [email protected]

After getting a confirmation that your classes are approved, you must register. To find open registration dates, you can access them online-  I recommend signing up as soon as they open.

Congratulations, you have successfully signed up for a class! All you have to do is wait for the semester to start, then you’re golden!
