The Hamilton musical is one of the musicals that so many people know about. It was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and went on Broadway on August 6th, 2015. Lin-Manuel Miranda not only created Hamilton, but also helped create songs for movies like Encanto, Moana, Little Mermaid, and Mufasa.
The musical has been seen by millions of people around the world, some of them being President Barack Obama, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé. The musical is about the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States. It shows his life through raps and emotional songs such as “Burn,” performed by Phillipa Soo.
The cast includes actors such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays Alexander Hamilton; Leslie Odom Jr., who plays Aaron Burr; and Anthony Ramos, who plays Philip Hamilton and John Laurens.
On September 5th, 2025, the movie was brought to movie theaters in the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico for people to enjoy in theaters. This theatrical release celebrates the10-year anniversary of Hamilton and marks the first time the film will be broadcast in theaters, since it first debuted during the Covid-19 pandemic. You can watch the original Hamilton cast performing on Broadway on Disney+ as well.
Over the years the musical has gained lots of popularity across the world. Many people enjoy listening to the amazing songs included in the musical. The song “Best of Wives and Best of Women” has recently been going around TikTok with people recreating the musical scene with fun costumes and lip-syncing. Leslie Odom Jr. has returned to Broadway to play Aaron Burr once again after 9 years. The musical is still on Broadway to this day, which shows how much people enjoyed it when it was released, and how people continue to enjoy it.
In my opinion, the musical has had a big impact on how people see the founding fathers. The movie showed how the USA came to be in a fun and engaging way with amazing songs and choreography. It being brought to theaters was a good idea because you’re able to see all the details up close, and that makes the experience so much better. You’re able to see things that you may not have been able to from afar or on a TV screen. Overall, I recommend watching Hamilton because it will deepen your understanding of Alexander Hamilton and historical figures of the United States. It shows the past in ways we can easily understand now.
