Super Bowl Sunday finally came as the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots faced off. The article will discuss the controversy over the halftime show featuring Bad Bunny.
The Game
Super Bowl LX (60) happened at Levi Stadium in San Francisco, where the NFC champions, the Seattle Seahawks, played against the AFC champions, the New England Patriots.
There was a lot of excitement leading up to the matchup, as it was a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, where the game came down to the 1-yard line. The Seahawks had the best running back in the game but decided to throw the ball when they were at the 1-yard line to win the Super Bowl. The quarterback of the Seahawks at the time, Russell Wilson, threw it and was picked off by Malcolm Butler to give the Super Bowl win to the Patriots. As both teams made it to the Super Bowl this year, the Seahawks were not trying to repeat history, but the Patriots were.
Super Bowl LX started off slow as both of the offenses couldn’t get anything going. Both the Seahawks and Patriots defenses were ranked top 2 in all the NFL, and these defenses really showed up in the first half.
The Seahawks were able to get 3 field goals in the first half, leading it to be 9-0 with the Seahawks leading going into halftime.
After the controversial halftime show, which we will get into later, the game started to pick up a little. The Seahawks kept pressuring the Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye, who is only in his 2nd year in the NFL.
This game helped show that some rookies might not be ready for the pros yet, as Drake May threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 6 times throughout the game.
The Seahawks dominated the second half with 2 touchdowns. One of them was a 20-yard pass from Sam Darnold to AJ Barner, and the other was a pick six from Uchenna Nwosu.
The Patriots were able to score a touchdown but failed on the 2-point attempt, leading to the Seahawks win in Super Bowl LX. The Seattle Seahawks have now won 2 Super Bowls in their history and plan to repeat next year.
The running back of the Seahawks, Kenneth Walker, won Super Bowl MVP as he had 135 rushing yards on 27 carries. After the game some of the team went on a trip to Disneyland, as that is a tradition for the Super Bowl-winning team.
The Halftime Show
Now on to the controversial halftime show of Bad Bunny. In his performance, Bad Bunny made many references to people’s rights. At the end of the performance, he announced all the countries that make up the Americas. Holding a football stating “Together, We Are America,” he said, “God bless America, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Guiana, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.” He then spiked the football at the final moment.

He used this to show that the United States is better or stronger when united together.
The entirety of Bad Bunny’s performance was in Spanish, but special guest Lady Gaga did perform in English. Ricky Martin also performed in Spanish.
The halftime show sparked political backlash from viewers who did not like that the performance was in Spanish or did not appreciate Bad Bunny as an artist. Turning Point USA produced an alternative halftime show, featuring headliner Kid Rock, for viewers who wanted to change the channel.
Throughout the show, Bad Bunny made references to his childhood in Puerto Rico, presenting the Latino culture, and even holding a real wedding. He had celebrities like Pedro Pascal and Cardi B in the background. At the end of the day, the halftime show was to show that everyone is equal.
Super Superbowl 60 has come to an end with the Seattle Seahawks winning the Super Bowl and a great performance from Bad Bunny, can wait for Superbowl 61!
