Meet Ashlyn Denker: Senior Spotlight

Ashyln Denker is an outstanding senior who attends Costa Mesa High School. She has experience in different sports and activities. The Hitching Post had the opportunity to interview her about different things such as sports, college, and tips for freshmen.  

Q: What has been your favorite part of high school?

A: My favorite part of high school has been making new friends and creating new memories. A specific memory that I have is from my sophomore year HOCO.

Q: Do you plan on going to college? If so, where?

A: I plan on going to OCC for 2 years and then transferring to a UC. I’m so excited to graduate and meet new people. 

Q: What sports have you done throughout high school?

A: I have done cheerleading, cheer stunts, and track.

Q: How long have you been in cheer?

A: I have been in cheer for 4 years. 

Q: What is your favorite part of cheerleading?

A: My favorite part of cheer is cheering at football games. I was able to make new friends over the years and cheer with them at games

Q: What tips do you have for incoming freshmen?

A: A tip I have for incoming freshmen is to stay on top of your grades and make new friends by putting yourself out there.

Q: What is something you wish you would have done in high school?

A: Something I wish I would have done was talk to more people instead of staying in one circle of friends.

Q: Who is your favorite teacher?

A: Mr. Hale, Mrs. Wang, Mrs. Soldin, Mrs. Edwards, and Mr. Cardenas are my favorite teachers because they all care, they are patient, and in the end they want what’s best for the student.

Ashlyn has been an amazing student throughout her 4 years of high school. The Hitching Post and CMHS hopes to see her succeed and continue being amazing when she graduates and goes to college.
