On January 7th to present day, there has been a massive fire throughout California. Let's see how much has been lost and what has happened.
The number of casualties is currently 24 people, and entire streets and over 12,000 structures have been destroyed. The Palisades fire has reached across more than 21,000 acres of land, with only 8% contained. The Eaton Fire in the Pasadena area has burned across nearly 14,000 acres, and only 3% is contained.
Governor Gavin Newsom has increased California National Guard personnel to approximately 2,500 service members to help support fighting the fires. The men and women of the National Guard have not only been active in helping fight the fires, but they have also helped in the assistance of public safety for the communities that have been devastated by these fires.
Costa Mesa Middle and High school has taken action to support those who are suffering from the LA fires. They have posted information on where and what to donate, from things like water bottles to clothes.
