“Night by the Bayou” Dance and Football Game

Homecoming 2024 was a very eventful weekend with our king and queen Xaveir Aliven and Marysol Silva, being crowned, but sadly losing the Homecoming game. Here’s everything you missed from Homecoming 2024.

The football stadium was all decorated with yellow, purple, and green Mardi Gras themed posters, covered with vines drooping everywhere, and a big balloon centerpiece in the middle. Hopes were high at the start of the game.

By the end of the first quarter, Santiago scored one touchdown, but the student section was still hyped and waiting for halftime, where they would find out who would be crowned as our Homecoming Queen.

Once we finally hit halftime, we were down 0-16, but everyone was super excited to see everyone on the 2024 homecoming court. For freshman, the court was An Nguyen and Brenton Rottscher; for sophomores, the court was Karolina Sangasy; for juniors, the court was Andrea Restrepo and Grady Jackson; for king, the court was Kembe Howerton, Ian Encarnacion, Jack Lambert, and Xavier Aliven; and lastly, our queen nominations were Abby Greene, Tsega Yohanes, Marysol Silva, and Alica De Leon.

Once all the court had walked to the field, the jester of the night, Brandon Le, ran out and crowned Marysol Silva the Homecoming Queen of the night.

The next night, all the students arrived around 7 p.m. waiting to get into the dance and enjoy their “Night by the Bayou.”

Once they got in, they were greeted with a big stage set up with many dancing pods, high-top tables, and stringing lights hanging from above. Even though the taco truck line was messy, other students could walk over to the ice cream truck and choose from a huge selection.

Once the clock hit 9, the junior class cabinet took the stage and announced each name of those nominated for homecoming king, finally revealing the winner, Xaveir Aliven. After that, most people danced until  the dance ended, and had a fun time.
