Manchester United has officially let go of Erik Hag, their manager, and has brought in a new coach, Ruben Amorim. Manchester United has been struggling in their 24/25 season. Will Amorim help United succeed for the rest of their season? Here’s what to know!
Manchester United is one of the most well known English soccer clubs in the world, containing a huge past with star players like David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, etc. The club is currently 13th in the English Premier League compared to their 23/24 season where they ended in 8th.
Erik Hag became Manchester United’s manager two and a half years ago in April 2022, helping the team win the 2023 Carabao Cup and the 2024 FA Cup. He was born in February 1970, and played soccer professionally for 13 years to when he retired in 2002. He was officially sacked by United on October 28th of this year. Since then, United officially has labeled Ruben Amorim as their new coach.
Ruben Amorim was appointed as the new coach officially on November 11th, arriving to Manchester United the same day. Amorim played soccer professionally for 14 years, winning 14 caps for his native Portugal team. Before United, he was a Sporting CP Coach for 4 years, helping the Lisbon Club to their first league title in 2021 after 19 years.
Many are very skeptical about Amorim’s arrival to United, saying his task will be too difficult. Amorim is very aware of these difficulties, and he is prepared. Although he was not United’s first choice, it is strongly detailed that he is ready to work hard for this team and fix their standing in the Premier League.
Amorim is a well studious thinker, along with his raw attitude quoting in an interview "I'm not naive, I know it's going to be very different, very difficult. I'm at peace now, I can focus on my new job and I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow." -ESPN Interview
Many are expecting a whole new re-route of United environment. While some are very hesitant, many are prepared to see a new change for the club and have strong hope they will re-route to new beginnings.
