CMHS Lunch Review:PB&J

On Wednesday, March 22nd, I tried the school provided Uncrustable Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich.

Quality represents the quality of the ingredients, 10 meaning they tasted fresh and tasty, 0 meaning that they tasted frozen/old, with poor taste. Taste refers to the overall taste of the dish as well as texture and other sensory attributes. Experience refers to the overall experience of eating the dish, from getting it to how it was given out.

Quality: 45/50

Quality received a 45 because of the fact that the sandwich was frozen before, lots of times these sandwiches get soggy because the jelly bleeds into the bread making it unappetizing. Had the sandwich been served earlier rather than sitting out, it would have gotten a higher rating.

Taste: 40/50

The contrast with the savory and slightly salty taste of the peanut butter pairs well with the sweet grape jelly, combined with the iconic lack of crust that gave the Taste category an 8. The sandwich is really good, especially in comparison to other school foods, however it was not anything special or memorable enough to receive anything higher.

Experience: 35/50

Experience received a disappointing 35 due to a few factors. First of all, the tables were very wet due to the rain making it hard to find somewhere to sit. Second, the jelly had seeped into the bread making it an unpleasant experience because I had to avoid the affected area of the sandwich. One upside to this however, was the short line and simplicity of ordering the sandwich.

Overall the Smuckers Uncrustable Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly Sandwich is a good, reliable lunch for anyone who is not allergic to peanuts. One downside to this is that these sandwiches are only served after the main lunch dish of the day has run out, meaning you have to wait to get one.
