CMHS MESA Team Wins MESA Day

On Saturday, March 5th, the High School Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) team competed at UCI.

Although schools were limited on how many students could attend the in-person event, the students that represented Costa Mesa took home first place honors in all competitions they competed in.

National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC): Designing for Equity in Your Community

  • Design Brief: 1st Place Sophia Catania, Lucero Islas, and Lena Nguyen
  • Poster Symposium: 1st Place Sophia Catania, Lucero Islas, and Lena Nguyen
  • Prototype Pitch: 1st Place Sophia Catania, Lucero Islas, and Lena Nguyen
  • Technical Presentation & Interview: 1st Place Sophia Catania, Lucero Islas, and Lena Nguyen
  • Overall: 1st Place Sophia Catania, Lucero Islas, and Lena Nguyen

All students on the team have qualified to move onto the Regional competition in April due to their 1st place standing. 

Seniors Sophia Catania, Lucero Islas, and Lena Nguyen hope to make their push to repeat and defend their Regional and State titles as they move onto the next round of competition.
