The CMHS Jazz Band 1 traveled to Chicago on April 4th to the 7th. Not only did they perform in front of judges for the American Heritage Festival, but they went to see many musical performances as well. For their performance, they got the Gold Award because they got superior ratings from each judge. Not only that, but Terry Cowley got the Maestro Award for having such an outstanding improvised solo.
During their trip, they saw the Blue Man Group, a flute quartet perform in a cathedral, went up to the famous Willis Tower, did a photo scavenger hunt, had a gospel brunch at the house of blues, went on the Untouchable Gangster tour, The Art Institute of Chicago, and they even went on a dinner cruise the night after their performance. They made many great memories in the Windy City.
