Mesa’s Upperclassmen Give Freshmen Advice

Starting off freshman year can be exciting and sometimes stressful. For example, some people can be ready for the first day while others are still deciding what to wear. But this is why we have advice for freshmen from upperclassmen.

Thanks to the upperclassmen, we freshmen can learn from other people from our school so that we can have the very best and most successful freshmen year. So we will be doing a Q & A. We have 75 answers which means 75 pieces of advice for freshmen.

A lot of freshmen asked “How can I succeed in all my classes?” so here some advice:

  • “Be present at school everyday, don’t have a bad attendance since if you do you’ll fall behind on work.”
  • “Master your time, don’t leave all your work and homework last minute. It will lead you to stress out, go down hill, and have a negative grade.”
  • “ALWAYS pay attention to the teacher.”
  • “Always try really hard to keep your grades up because every grade matters!”

Some freshmen ask “What if I want to have a fun and exciting freshman year?” well you should follow this advice:

  • “Take classes that you are willing to be in and the year will be so much more fun.”
  • “Don’t be afraid to act a little stupid. Some of the best memories you’ll make during high school are going to be the ones where you’re laughing with friends and not worrying about other people’s opinions on you.”
  • “GET INVOLVED AND PLAY SPORTS!”
  • “Do what you love even if other people think it’s weird. Don’t try to be popular just be yourself and remember quality over quantity.”
  • “Try your hardest and remember to have fun everyday because time goes by fast!🥹🥰
  • “Try to balance school with social life. Be dedicated to your schoolwork and don’t procrastinate. The quicker you finish it the sooner you can hang out with friends and get involved with school events. It is important to find your community to support you whether it is good friends, teachers, or family.”
  • “Have fun and cherish the time you have it goes by fast.”

It’s normal to feel nervous about starting high school but you can make your high school years better by asking for help when you need help. Remember to not feel afraid to ask for help and I hope everyone has a good new year. Thank you to all the upperclassmen who gave us so much advice.
