After a 102-year hiatus, Noserfatu is making a return, set to release on Christmas day! Director Robert Eggers took the 1922 black and white silent film to a "gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her," according to IMDB.
The film has already been highly rated by critics, and has received a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 83% on Metacritic. The high ratings are not for nothing, as Nosferatu stars Bill Skarsgård, Lily Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Wilem Dafoe, and Aaron Taylor Johnson.
The original German film was released in 1922. It was actually an authorized version of the original Bram Stoker vampire tale, eventually leading to the production company of Nosferatu getting sued, and ending up bankrupt. Luckily not all the copies were destroyed, with some sneaking into America debuting in 1929.
