Mrs. Kahawai has been a teacher at Mesa for the past 18 years.
Mrs. Kahawai has lived in Costa Mesa her whole life. She went to Estancia as a student, and has worked at Mesa for her entire career. She is dedicated to the Newport Mesa Unified School District.
Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Kahawai wanted to plan parties. She started working as an event planner at various venues around town. After a short time, however, she decided that she didn’t want to continue in the business as it involved many weekends and nights.
Mrs. Kahawai pursued teaching due to her love for reading and her desire to demonstrate the advantages of reading and learning to others. She has read over a thousand books, including every book in her library, and wishes to read as many as she can in her lifetime.
In her free time, Mrs. Kahawai runs an online Etsy shop for her crocheted beanies and travels around Europe.
Something Mrs. Kahawai wants her students to know is that she is aware that school can be boring. There are bad days and good days, and at times even she can find school boring.
Mrs. Kahawai has an intense passion for reading and has written numerous stories. However, what is remarkable is that she actually completes the assignments she assigns to her students to ensure that they are logical and do-able.
