Summer vacation is the perfect time to take a break from everyday routines, explore new places, go out side our comfort zones, and create unforgettable memories with people you love. We interviewed some of our students and asked them about their summer vacation experiences. Let’s dig into some of the amazing places and hear about some exiting experiences our MESA students had this summer!
Mei Ahara
Mei went to Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan around the end of June. Her best moments in the trip were shopping and exploring the beauty of Japan. Mei went with her dad and two sisters. She noticed that everyone in Japan was super nice and welcoming. She had a great time there and would definitely go back there in the future. Some other places she went to were Tennessee and Oceanside. Mei visited her grandma with her mom and sisters in eastern Tennessee. She got to go to her grandma’s lake and visit DollyWood with her family. In Oceanside she stayed at a hotel and got to explore around the city, go shopping, and just relax.
Maya Olvera
Maya visited Los Barriles, Mexico in early June right after 8th grade promotion. Los Barriles is located on the East Cape of the Baja California Sur peninsula. She went on the vacation with her family and her brother’s friends. Maya said that she has been going to Los Barriles with her family every summer since she was very young. She says that she “looks forward to the trip every year.” Her favorite moment of her vacation was when she went free diving in the ocean and she saw a shark! Even though the animal surprised her, Maya said that it was still one of the best experiences.
Myrin Muniz
Myrin and his family went on a cruise around the Caribbean! The Royal Caribbean Allure of the Sea docked in Florida and set sail across Jamaica, Coco Kay, and Nassau. The cruise lasted eight days not including the flight from California to Florida and back. The cruise offered many different activities like karaoke, comedy shows, musicals, ice skating, and a teen club. Myrin and his family went to see some of the shows that the cruise offered. He said that the showes were very engaging, but his overall favorite moment of the trip was making new friends and being able to explore the different Carribean Islands with his family.
Whether it’s exploring the bustling streets of Tokyo, diving deep into the waters of Mexico, or sailing across the Caribbean, summer vacation offers endless opportunities to get away from the repetitive school year. These experiences show us that taking a break from school isn’t just about relaxing but instead, it’s about getting out into the world and building unforgettable bonds. No matter where MESA students went this summer, they came home with new memories, experiences they will remember for years to come. Sometimes the best memories are made when we step outside of our everyday routines.
